School workers’ activities during Covid-19

Although Jo, Trish and Becky are not able to go into schools due to the Covid-19 crisis, they are just as busy as usual serving the schools and children of Bedford. They have adapted quickly to the changing environment and quickly contacted schools to see how they could continue to serve them and to continue to reach out to the children. They have learned new skills and are becoming increasingly adept at creating videos and RE resources that can be used by children at home. Through the medium of online conferencing tools and video creating software, they have produced lunch club and assembly resources, sometimes delivered in real-time to children so that they can participate and interact, and others produced as pre-recorded videos.

The schools closed down just before Easter, so Impact created a series of RE resources that could be printed out at home that covered the topics of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and a general overview of Easter. Each was created for multiple age groups. This pioneering work was highly regarded by the schools with which we work and has been shared with other schools and churches, expanding the reach of Impact, and hopefully enabling us to work with more schools in the future. It has also been a springboard for creating many more RE resource packs that will cover topics like Christian festivals, but also topics about Christian values and the fruits of the Spirit.

Please continue to pray for our work so that we can continue to provide meaningful engagement for children to support the RE and PSHE school curriculum.
